This May, we’d like to welcome you back to our once annual Spelling Bee (for adults)! Before you ask, no, this does not mean that we’re going to be throwing out dirty words for our contestants to spell… although we reserve the right to do so. It does, however, mean that these words are going to be hard, making it an event for the valorous! Read on for more details.

Up to 20 teams of 1-2 people will compete in this convivial affair, and best of all, there is no public speaking necessary! Participants will be given a mini whiteboard to write and submit each answer, so you can leave your middle-school-spelling-bee-induced stage fright at home. Competitors will receive one point for each correctly spelled word. After 15 words, the top three teams will move on to the final round, where the rules of baseball do not apply - get one word wrong here and you’re out! But don’t worry, each of the top three teams will get a prize.

Prizes (Per Team Member):

• 1st: $50 Stormcloud gift card, swag bag

• 2nd: $25 Stormcloud gift card, swag bag

• 3rd: Swag bag

In addition to lively competition and the potential for bragging rights and cool prizes, partakers will also be helping us give back to the community. All registration fees and 50% of pub proceeds between 6-8pm on the evening of the event will be donated to the Benzie Shores District Library. Cost to enter is $25 per team.

So grab your most orthographically proficient buddy and come on down to the pub for a night of terms, treats and toasts!
